Day 5

Friday. Shorter, quality spinning pass.

30 min, 4 short intervals (resistance 2,4,6,8,2,4,6,8 and so on, two minutes at each), max effect 200W, mean effect 108W, distance 13,7 km, calories 228.

I have a cold coming, so I thought at the beginning that I would take it really easy this pass, but... As I tramped on, it felt really good and I seemed to have enough energy to make a medium effort anyway. Which went well!

We'll see if I'm spike enough for swimming tomorrow. Lets hope so.

Day 4

Legs... Dead... Can't... Feel... Them...

Or, well, that's not entirely true. My legs aren't dead, not yet anyway, they're more like... Unconcious. Spaghetti-like. And boy if I feel them! Every step I take painfully reminds me of their existens. But, despite my musche ache, I feel more vigorous than ever and I jump high out of pure happiness.

Today was supposed to be my long-distance-run-day. 60 minutes of nonstop running. Hrrm, right. The fact that an aggressive snowstorm gusted outside the windows wouldn't be that much of an obstacle, if it wasn't for the fact that I always push a bloody pram in front of me at every run. The pavements weren't shoveled, either, so today I estimated the physical resistance to about 200 % of what it usually is... Lovely. My heart pounded like crazy, and moreover, I got asthmatic symptoms. So, it didn't take long before I decided to make a little adjustment of today's intensity. I walked whenever I needed to catch breath, about a third of the whole distance, and I cut off 10 minutes.

Everybody's in different conditions at the beginning of a new challenge. Clearly, my body wasn't ready for this much strain. Not yet. But God Forbid that this would make me give up! Noooooo. The next week I'll try for a whole sixty minutes again. Nonstop running. Wish me gain ;)

Workout of the day:
Running Long-Distance 50 min, checquered running and walking

Day 3

Spinning, one hour, 25 kilometres, four intensifying intervals, maximum effect: 200W, medium effect: 119W, 495 calories. In other words, I span away a chocolate cake today :P

Sure, gym radio works, but the next time I'm bringing my mp3.

Day 2

Whoa. Three workouts at one day..! Slow down, perhaps?

Nah.

I started with a strength pass in running. 40 min and alotta slippry slopes. Tip-tap down and power steps up. Great mind rinser, too. Now I've only got the long-distance run left for this week! Feels good.

Later at night, I made my first swim pass ever. This one, and four more, are dedicated to get used to the water, and find a good crawl technique. Gotta say I did not find it today... Despite pedagogical instructions from Nico. Apparently, it was rather amusing to look at me splashing around down there in the pool, legs and arms sprawling at all directions. I don't think it will be too difficult to get control over my limbs. But the breathing..! I almost thought I would drown today. And I got chlorine all the way up in sinus. Mmm, wonderful.

I tried to turn underwater at the edge of the pool. Think I must have been seriously confused, since I rather than turning and twisting into the right position to swim back to the first edge, always seemed to make some sort of a somersault and get up above the surface totally disorientated.

I also tried to dive from the ledge. It went qiute well, on the third attempt. Though I gotta learn not to overbend and almost make a volt before landing. Hmm... I clearly gotta do some practice of, lets say, everything, before I will even have a chance to develop in speed and move efficiency.

Directly after the swim pass, I made an ordinary weight pass. Nicolai was keen to help me putting together a gym programme suited for my new needs of muscle endurance. Right now I'm trying out one of two alternatives: the entire body gets a work-through each of the weeks two passes, but we focus on different muscle groups at each pass. At the end of the next week, I'll switch to alternative 2, that concentrates on upper body at pass 1 and legs at pass 2. We'll see which one I'll continue with, when my "testing period" is over. I'm trying out the alternatives for 1 month each, and after that I'll decide which one I'll continue with.

Workout of the day:
Running: "Strength" 40min, varying altitudes.
Swimming: "Playaround", 30 min. Trying of new techniques a.s.o.
Gym: Standing thigh curl, 3*12, xkg - dun' remember :P
     Rolling Back lift, 3*12, 5kg
Standing crossline in cable machine, 3*12, 5kg
     Abdomen cramp, 5*20, 5kg

Day 1

Alright... Focus. Breathe. Air in, air out. You're gonna make this.

Aaaaaaand... Action!

There she goes, humpybumpy with the little baby sleeping in the pram, bouncing up a slope. Ten minutes warm-up, then we continue with intervals.

I found a slightly leaning, empty walking way and parked Dina at the top. Then I measured how long I could run in twenty seconds, and then how long I came on twenty seconds walking. That's one interval. Eleven to go.

Bumpetibumpetibumpeti.

Four people stopped and leaned curiosly over Dinas pram, and then looked at me. Their comments when I closed in to them, were quite entertaining: "I thought you were a newspaper runner, but there's a little baby lying there!", "Hey, have you dropped anything? What? Oh, you're training! Ahaaaaa".

When I was finished, I took a ten minutes calm jog back to my house. Today's workout was really a walk in the park, but I still realize I have a lot to develop in running steps, breathing technique, efficiency...

You know what this was?

My very first training session in my triathlon training.

It has begun.

Ironman awaits.......

Today's workout:
Running Intervals. 10 min jog for warmup, then 12 intervals of 20s running and 20s walking. Then 10 min jog for "warmdown"... Stretch.
